Energy, behaviour & switch-off

Why does my child get hyper after watching MrBeast?

It is not your imagination, and it is not naughtiness. We reviewed 978 MrBeast uploads one by one, measuring how fast each one cuts, how loud it runs and how much it asks of the child watching. This page is what we found, with the videos named.

What we actually measured

We do not review MrBeast as one thing, because it is not one thing. Every upload on the channel was reviewed individually, and the single biggest reason a video stayed off our shelf was not swearing, danger or anything sinister. It was pace and volume.

248videos kept off our shelf mainly because of fast cutting and constant volume
376of the videos we did not pick change shot every two seconds or faster
500of the 664 not-picked videos carry a high sensory load overall
Why we talk about the next hour, not just the video. A review that stops at “is it safe” misses the question most parents are actually asking, which is what the house will be like afterwards. So our reviews score how a video tends to leave a child: wound up, level, or gently settled. It is the difference between a good video and a good choice for 7pm.

The ones that carry it most

These are among the most-watched videos we chose not to put on our shelf, with the reason stated plainly. Your child has probably seen several (the first one has over a billion views, so the odds were never in your favour). None of this is a judgement on your child for loving them.

Across the 664 videos we did not pick, 37% stayed off the shelf primarily for pace and intensity. Not because anything terrible happens in them, but because of what they ask of a child, and what tends to be left over when they finish.

The other end of the same channel

The same channel does have a gentler end, and these are its steadiest uploads by our per-video scores. Fair warning before you press play: the calm corner of MrBeast is mostly his early Minecraft era, and it looks nothing like the blockbusters. A child chasing the big stunts may not bite. A Minecraft-mad child often will (and it buys a much quieter half hour). Either way, you deserve the honest version rather than a pretend one.

Four things worth trying at home

None of these involve a battle over the channel itself, which tends to be the fight nobody wins.

  1. Move it earlier, before you move it out.The same video costs less at 4pm than at 6.45pm. If the evenings are the problem, try shifting the slot before you try removing it. It is an easier sell, and it often does most of the job.
  2. Pick the upload, not the channel.Every one of our 314 reviews states the pace, the volume and how the video tends to leave a child. Choosing two or three from the calmer end and offering those first keeps the creator they want without the full cost.
  3. End on an ending.Autoplay serves the next video before the last one has landed. Turning it off, and finishing on a video that actually resolves rather than a cliffhanger, makes the stop feel like a stop instead of an interruption.
  4. Give the energy somewhere to go.If a lively one has just finished, the next ten minutes go better with something physical (kicking a ball beats being asked to sit nicely at the table straight away). Planning that gap is easier than fighting it.

What parents ask us about this

Is my child the only one who reacts like this?

No. The reaction is common enough that we measured for it across the whole catalogue. Around half of the uploads we reviewed run at a pace and volume that ask a lot of a child, and plenty of children show it once the video ends. How strongly it shows varies hugely from child to child, and that part only you can judge.

Does this mean MrBeast is bad for children?

Not as a blanket verdict, and we do not give channel-level verdicts at all. We reviewed 978 uploads individually: 314 made our shelf and 664 did not. The useful question is not whether the channel is good, it is whether this particular video fits this particular moment. A lively video at 4pm is a different decision from the same video at bedtime.

Should I just ban it?

That is your call to make, but it is usually a hard road if the interest is genuine, and it is not what this page is arguing for. The gentler lever is choosing which MrBeast videos, and when. The calmer picks below keep the creator they want at a pace that asks less of them.

Will the calmer videos definitely settle my child?

We would never promise that, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we can tell you is what the video itself does: how quickly it cuts, how loud it runs, whether it winds up or settles. What your child does with that on a given day depends on the day, the child and everything else in it.
